Geographic Base Map: ArcGIS Online World Imagery
World Imagery, last updated August 2017, provides one meter or better
satellite and aerial imagery in many parts of the world and lower
resolution satellite imagery worldwide. The map includes 15m TerraColor
imagery at small and mid-scales (~1:591M down to ~1:72k) and 2.5m SPOT
Imagery (~1:288k to ~1:72k) for the world. The map features 0.3m
resolution imagery in the continental United States and parts of
Western Europe from DigitalGlobe. Additional DigitalGlobe sub-meter
imagery is featured in many parts of the world. In the United States,
1 meter or better resolution NAIP imagery is available.
In other parts of the world, imagery at different resolutions
has been contributed by the GIS User Community. In select communities,
very high resolution imagery (to 0.03m) is available down to ~1:280
scale.

Arctic Base Map: Blue Marble Next Generation
The Blue Marble: Next Generation is a series of images that show the
color of the Earths surface for each month of 2004 at moderate
resolution (500 meters/pixel) at a global scale. These monthly images
reveal seasonal changes to the land surface: the green-up and dying-back
of vegetation in temperate regions such as North America and Europe,
dry and wet seasons in the tropics, and advancing and retreating
Northern Hemisphere snow cover. In 2004, the generation of the Blue
Marble: Next Generation imagery utilized new techniques allowing the
computer to automatically recognize and remove cloud-contaminated or
otherwise bad dataa process that was previously done manually.

Antarctic Base Map: Blue Marble Next Generation
The MODIS Blue Marble, Next Generation layer is a cloud free, true color
composite of MODIS imagery from August 2004. MODIS Blue Marble is a static
product. It was created with data from the MODIS instrument on board the
Terra satellite. The image resolution is 500 m. This base map is created
by using the WMS service provided by Worldview/Global Imagery Browse
Services (GIBS).
